Event description

Description

In the UK, people choose to donate their bodies after death for medical education. These body donors (and their families) play a very special role in training doctors. If you would like to know more about the process of body donation and what will happen after you donate your body this talk is for you! Zivarna will take you behind the scenes and discuss the extraordinary work that anatomy unit staff do to ensure the smooth running of this process. This talk will answer questions like: “how long is the body kept?”; “can body donors have a 'normal' funeral?”; and “how do I sign up?”.

Speaker biography: Zivarna Murphy is a PhD candidate at the Hull York Medical School. She is exploring body donation for medical education with a focus on identifying good practice in the interactions between Medical School Anatomy Unit staff and families. She is also interested in public engagement with the dead.
