Donna Rutherford: Your Own Story - Visions & Versions of South Carrick
Thu 11 May 2017, 13:00 – 15:30 BST
The sharing of stories is a crucial act in life, we'd like you to place yourself in the picture and explore your specific relationship to the South Carrick area.
This initial workshop shall bring together a small group of women to explore their own story through favourite settings, daily routines and familial histories, we’ll consider future memories via the past and present.
Donna has been developing performance and video work using innovative personal storytelling for 27 years.
Comments from previous workshop participants:
"I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop session - very insightful and raw - a very productive and intimate session to explore the concepts of ageing and family and community."
“A heart-warming and touching session”
Donna on the Edinburgh International Book Festival project in Falkirk 2016
"We wanted participants to think about the power of shaping stories, that all our lives are valid and illustrate evolution, ultimately they should view themselves as Archivists of their own life."
As part of What if...Girvan we'd like to welcome women from the South Carrick Community to come together to share their stories and think about what their community means to them.
