Event description
Visit Scotland's first urban community hydro scheme, have a tour round the turbine house and find out how a community built a hydro!

About this event

As part of Climate Week North East 2022, we are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to visit our hydro.

See first hand the Archimedes Screw, the widest in the UK when it was installed in 2016. Have a look around the turbine house, and find out how electricity is generated. Take a walk along the edge of the lade, in an area that is steeped in industrial history, but which now harnesses the power of the river to produce clean, green renewable energy.

To get here: Drivers head to Donside Village and park on Papermill Avenue, cyclists can cycle straight to the hydro, walkers can stroll (west)through lovely Seaton Park, hugging the edge of the river Don and walk along the Boardwalk, or if you want to use public transport, get the 19 bus straight into Donside Village
