Don't Get Caught - Revalidate

Revalidation is the process that all nurses and midwives in the UK must complete every three years to maintain their registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). It’s designed to encourage you to reflect on your practice, engage in professional development, and demonstrate that you remain fit to practise safely and effectively.

To revalidate, you need to meet specific requirements, including:

• 35 hours of continuing professional development (CPD) over the three-year period, with at least 20 hours of participatory learning.

• 5 written reflective accounts linked to the Code, your CPD, feedback, or professional experiences.

• Practice hours (minimum 450 for nurses and midwives, 900 for dual registrants).

• Confirmation from an appropriate confirmer that you’ve met all requirements.
