About this Event
Walk the streets of Old Edinburgh Town, doon the close, and up the stairs, ben the hoose with Burke & Hare - and with me, Malcolm Scott of Scott Walking Tours.
December 1827: A tale that begins in a boarding house in Edinburgh's West Port, where an old army pensioner dies and his corpse is sold to Dr Knox, dissectionist and anatomist...
...and ends one year, and 16 murders later in the High Court, where Sootland's finest legal minds have to unpick the evidence, and convict at least one of the participants of this grisly tale that became known as the "West Port murders" and shook the "enlightened" Scottish capital to its foundations.
NB: All current Covid-19 protocols will be observed in line with current Scottish Government guidelines.
The walk takes around 90 minutes to 2 hours, and will be conducted at a leisurely pace.
