It is designed for learners
wishing to apply for a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a door supervisor.
The course is designed for learners wishing to apply for a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a door supervisor.
The SIA stipulates that the course must be a minimum of 44 contact hours ( 6-days) if self-study is undertaken. The course is 7 days long if the Emergency First Aid course is included.
Topics covered include
- The main characteristics of the Private Security Industry,
- The importance of safe working practices,
- drug-misuse legislation, issues and procedures relevant to the role of a door supervisor,
- licensing law,
- queue management,
- how to recognise, assess and reduce risk in conflict situations,
- problem-solving techniques when resolving conflict,
- physical interventions and the implications of their use and the use non-aggressive physical skills to protect yourself and others.
NOTE: Both Security courses require the learner to hold a minimum of an emergency first aid at work before commencing the course
