Event description

Description

This September, part of this year's Cockburn Association's Door Open Day 2017, we would like to welcome you to come along and visit the 'last of Scotland's Lost Gardens', a late medieval gem almost forgotten in the most unexpected of places on Granton's waterfront. Take a short tour around the 2 acre walled garden during its earliest phase of community restoration, following a decade or more of leaving it to go wild!

Feel free to stay longer, explore and chat with local residents involved in raising awareness and safeguarding this very special garden.

Experts from Historic Environment Scotland and community members who have helped research the garden's lengthy history will be on hand to answer any questions. We hope to have a display of our plans for the garden's long term restoration to emulate the best of old and new ideas in horticulture.

Please note the garden site has a few hazards and may only be partly accessible this Sept for visitors. Not safe enough yet for children even if supervised, and no dogs please. A maximum of 15 people per hourly tour.
