About this event
Exclusively for Glasgow Doors Open Days 2025, we’ll be showing off our state-of-the-art maltings - for the first time ever!
Here at Jackton we’re one of a vanishingly small number of Scotch whisky distilleries to have a drum maltings, and normally this area of our production is strictly off-limits to the public.
However, during Doors Open Days, we’ll be opening the door to our malting plant and welcoming a very limited number of guests into the inner workings of the distillery.
You’ll have the chance to meet our dedicated distillers, learn all about our grain-to-glass whisky-making philosophy, and hear the tale of our transformation from a family farm into a stunning Scotch whisky distillery!
This is an extremely rare chance to glimpse a usually unseen part of the whisky-making process. Don’t miss out!
Frequently asked questions
All of the tour is wheelchair accessible. Access to the maltings is up a moderate incline. There are some areas of uneven terrain on the tour.
Large print tour scripts will be provided for guests who are hard of hearing.
The maltings will not be running on the day, both for health and safety reasons, and to reduce the noise levels on the tour.
We cannot accept dogs on the tour as we are a food and drinks production site.
Take the train from Glasgow Central to Hairmyres Station. From Hairmyres station the distillery is a 5 minute cycle or 25 minute walk. Taxis can be booked to pick up from Hairmyres station, and we recommend Kelvin Kabs - 01355 241212.
Yes, we provide free car parking for tour guests. However, we recommend the use of public transport or cycling to get to us. Please note that cars should enter Hayhill Road from the direction of Eaglesham Road and NOT Peel Road, as it is a one-track road.
No, the tour does not include alcohol and is suitable for visitors who do not drink. The Tasting Bar will be open from 10:00-18:00 for guests to visit after their tour.
Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy footwear. The tour is partially outdoors so bring coats and umbrellas as required.
No, this is a new experience exclusive to Doors Open Days. It will take place in a different area of the site that our distillery tour does not cover. Even if you have enjoyed our standard tour before, you will see a completely new side to us on Doors Open Day!
