About this event

Dorset Business Angels Network Limited provide quality, private equity investment opportunities to local self-certified High Net Worth and Sophisticated Investors.

We help early-stage businesses, especially in southern England, our local area, to find equity capital. We do this by bringing our investors and entrepreneurs together to accelerate the growth of early-stage businesses.

Join us for networking from 17.15 in The Orangery at The Carlton Hotel, enjoy refreshments whilst meeting and catching up with fellow investors, DBA sponsors and the DBA team.

**New for 2025 - Meet the Founders- Investors will be able to meet the entrepreneurs and view their products or services before the pitch presentations at the networking session.

Presentations will follow in The Causerie Suite at 18.00 with an introduction from our Chairman, Don McQueen and MD Peter Eales. There will also be a sponsor presentation.

Five carefully selected companies seeking investment will then make a 10-minute pitch each, after which there is time for Q&A. Then, expressions of interest from Angel Investors are registered for further action.

Once the pitch presentations are finished, those staying for dinner will enjoy a hot buffet-style meal with wine and a chance to start new conversations and continue those started earlier in the evening. There will be no table seating plan.

All dietary requirements can be catered for. Please let us know what we need to be aware of in the booking form.

The five companies chosen to pitch are:

Market sector: Sustainable vertical agriculture and fresh produce supply.

Revolutionary Vertical Farming Technology, 22x The Yield, 95% Less Water

This Company accelerates the transition to sustainable food production through vertical hydroponics, delivering 22x the yield of traditional farming whilst using 95% less water, 70% less fertiliser, and zero pesticides.

With 46% of UK food imported and government emissions targets driving demand for local produce, the company operates from Milton Keynes, producing over 2 tons weekly of leafy greens and herbs for major retailers including Asda, Waitrose, and Tesco.

Self-funded to date with proven technology and established customer traction, management is raising 500K equity on a 2M pre-money valuation with SEIS/EIS advanced assurance to fund key hires, prepare their second site, and scale towards their target of 4 sites generating 12.7M revenue within 5 years.

Market sector: PPE

Custom-fit hearing protection is a better way to prevent hearing loss … and save money too.

With hearing loss set to impact 700M people globally by 2050, this company’s products are well-positioned to lead the next generation of smart, sustainable ear-protection appliances.

Its patented smartphone-enabled 3D scanning technology is designed to protect industrial workers and consumers alike with custom-moulded earplugs. Users are provided with AI precision via the phone and 3D-printed, custom-moulded, medical-grade silicone earplugs.

The benefits include superior comfort, higher safety compliance and strong ESG compliance, reducing waste and long-term hearing damage and savings on their PPE spend.

With 5 patents already granted, the company has established traction in both B2C and B2B markets, which include many multinational organisations. Their sales to date span 68 countries. 35% from USA.

The Company is now raising 500K to scale B2B sales, pay for the granting of EU patent and accelerate production.

Market Sector: Non-invasive Health Diagnostics

Painless contact-free screening and monitoring solutions for health conditions through unlocking the health data held within the eye.

This Company has developed state-of-the-art technology for a hand-held diagnostic platform that uses light to detect, monitor and manage chronic diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and myopia at an early stage, without the use of needles or other invasive methods.

They are backed by £3.3M of Innovate UK funding and have strong IP in the form of 7 patents.

Working prototypes have been successfully tested and regulatory pathways mapped.

The first product launch is scheduled for 2026.

Management now seeks £2.5M to finalise clinical trials, scale R&D and product development, and accelerate go-to-market planning and strategic partnerships.

Market Sector: Industrial Wastewater Treatment Solutions

Tackling the rising environmental impact of wastewater treatment through energy-efficient solutions

This Company’s mission is to solve one of the most urgent challenges we face today – industrial wastewater pollution.

Its patented, low-energy evaporation system uses waste heat to recover at least 95% of clean water via the process, whilst reducing cost, carbon, and compliance risk for many global industries.

Pilot projects are now up and running in the UK and overseas and their modular system approach benefits market sectors such as food & beverages, oil and gas production, mining and desalination.

Right now, they have signed Letters of Intent with several multi-nationals and forecast strong licence-based, recurring revenue streams from 2026 onwards.

They are currently raising 1M to deliver more pilots to major clients, scale up modular production and pursue the above licensing and JV partnerships.

Market sector: Smart AI Adult Social Care

An all-in-one care management and rota platform to save time, reduce stress and give full visibility across services

This Company’s mission is to transform the UK’s adult social care sector by providing a smart, AI-enabled platform, that will replace paper-based systems and fragmented digital tools.

Designed for carers, agencies, and providers, the platform provides efficient scheduling, care tracking, communication, and as of now, predictive risk monitoring.

With the UK Government mandating full digitisation of social care by 2025, the Company is well positioned to capitalise on this new wave of both regulatory and demographic-driven growth.

Backed by 650K of Innovate UK funding and 250K of regional equity finance, monthly recurring revenue is running at 14K across 163 users.

Management is now raising 750K to finalise the product build-out, scale up the sales team and convert the current pilot schemes into agency contracts.
