About this event

Join Andy McEwan on a walk through the old village of Doune, and take the opportunity to photograph this pretty village along the way.

You will enjoy an exploration of the fascinating stories of the lovely historic town of Doune from the built heritage to the people and industry. Andy will take you beyond the surface as he explores the history of Doune - from the Romans through Royal intrigue to the pistol makers and the Doune of today.

We will start the walk at the former Kilmadock Church, opposite Castlehill . The walking will be mainly level and on footpaths, although we may walk toward the castle and the Ardoch Burn on grassy surfaces and using steps. Please dress for the weather on the day. Children under 16 years of age to be accompanied by an adult.

Take the opportunity to finish at Doune library to view Tom Astbury's Beyond Poetry exhibition. There will also readings of poetry in Scots Gaelic by Ailsa Morgan, a local student of Gaelic. More information is here.
