Dovedale hike includes the famous stepping stone and covers many of the landmarks and scenic highlights of the White Peak area, including summiting Thorpe Cloud.
The hike typically begins near Thorpe or from the Dovedale car park close to Ilam, and follows the River Dove through a landscape of soaring cliffs, ancient woodlands, and wildflower meadows. The route is well-maintained and offers both easy walks and more challenging extensions, making it ideal for families and seasoned walkers alike.
Dovedale’s cinematic landscape has also caught the eye of filmmakers. It featured in the 2010 film Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe, where the area's rugged beauty was used to evoke the wild English countryside.
Whether you're in search of scenic beauty, a gentle ramble, or a connection to legendary tales, the Dovedale Hike offers a truly memorable experience in the heart of the Peak District.
