The premier of a Multi-Media performance featuring the work of poet Tom Kelly and photographer Kev Howard set to soundscapes by composer Steve Thompson, the first performance of its kind at The Word.
The central character is an Everyman. He is displaced and at a loss as to what to do and is lost in the past as a result of industrial decline and loss.
The work is centred on the North-east of England but could well be Chicago or Glasgow the impact is equally devastating and is all too soon forgotten by the powers that be.
‘Down to the River’ gives a voice to those made mute by history.
