The content will be as follows:

Lecture 1:

Holistic First Aid Course: Tetatus and the management of cuts, grazes and minor childhood Injuries

Your child comes running to you crying, holding out a finger she has cut on a piece of slate in the garden, your toddler wobbles up to you in the playground with a large patch of skin grazed off his knee, your teenager, who should know better, has been sledging down a rubbish heap in the dark and has come hobbling towards you tearfully, led by a bunch of rather guilty looking friends, with a nail - very dirty, imbedded in her hand. What do you do?

No child is going to escape cuts and grazes as they travel through childhood – indeed, there would be something wrong with them if they were cocooned to the extent that they didn't run about fast enough or climb high enough to fall over hard, or hurt their knees. As much as we want to protect our children from obvious and certain danger, the journey through childhood is an experiential one.

So how do we manage these injuries?

Come and find out. Dr Jayne Donegan is a GP & Specialist Homoeopath with extensive experience in child health. She will outline safe strategies for home treatment and red flags which require a second opinion.

The lecture will cover:

- Summoning help

NB There is an optional A4 Holistic First Aid Course Workbook with lecture notes and space to fill in your own additional notes and diagrams. This costs £6 + a booking fee and must be ordered in advance. Please order this via the tickets section or email niholistichealtheducation@gmail.com.

Lecture 2:

Homeopathy for Children – An Introduction

Homoeopathy works with our innate immunity and healing processes, stimulating the energy our children need to move up their developmental steps and rebalance excesses – emotional, physical and spiritual. Homoeopathic remedies help to centre babies and children, giving them a core of inner calm and stability which helps to keep them grounded in the increasingly hectic modern world.

NB, this module assumes that you have previously attended 'Nursing Children Supportively Through Acute Illness' or have a confident knowledge and understanding of the holistic model of health.

Dr Jayne Donegan gives you simple tools to treat yourself and your family supportively using homeopathy.

Lecture will cover:

- Homoeopathy and the concept of the Vital Force Homoeopathic / Holistic concept of Dis--ease. What is in a homoeopathic Remedy?

- What potency (strength) to use and how often.

- Teething: Pulsatilla and Chamomila

- Colic: Colocynthus and Magnesia Phosphorica

- The Homoeopathic Constitutional Remedy, with the examples of Lycopodium, Calcarea Carbonica and Sulphur

- Homoeopathic Remedies for Measles, Mumps, Chicken Pox Whooping Cough

- Use of Nosodes for prevention and treatment

- What are Miasms?

- Dr Schuessler's Twelve Tissue Salts

- Simple Homoeopathic Guide to treatment of Acute Fever

The first lecture starts at 10.00 AM sharp and we politely ask you to arrive 15 minutes in advance to check in and take your seats. Each lecture will be followed by a Q&A session with Jayne. A buffet lunch will be served inbetween the two lectures. Please send any dietary requirements to niholistichealtheducation@gmail.com.

FAQs

Is there any age limit to the event? Can my children attend too?

Babies in arms can be brought for free. We ask that you respect the needs of all attendees by ensuring that the event is not unduly disturbed. There will be baby-friendly seating available for parents or caretakers to move around and attend to their babies. If you let us know in advance that you are bringing your baby we can ensure we make sufficient seating available. There will also be two separate rooms available for our use during the event, should anyone need comfy settees for things like quiet feeding or napping little ones. (Of course, you do not need to leave the lecture room at all for either of these things, but the option will be there).

Toddlers and older children: Practically speaking it is not a suitable occasion for toddlers and young children. Parents bringing toddlers must be prepared to leave the room so as not to disturb other attendees as required. However it is possible for parents/caretakers to share one ticket if they wish to share childcare and lecture attendance.

Please specify how many babies/toddlers you are bringing when purchasing your ticket. There is a selection available at checkout to add babies/toddlers free of charge.

Children that require seating will need to have their own ticket. Please contact us if you have any questions on this.

What can I bring into the event?

You can bring your own snacks and drinks and toys to occupy kids if you wish to bring them.

We highly recommend you have a notepad and pen (or several) with you to take plenty of notes and get the most out of the event.

What's the refund policy?

You can get a full refund up to 7 days prior to the event. After this time we cannot process any refunds.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

You may print your ticket if you wish but it will not be necessary to bring a printout to the event.

Can I update my registration information?

You can update your information in advance of the event by logging into your eventbrite account and processing necessary changes there.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Please specify the name of the attendee at the time of purchase so we can print an accurate attendee list.

If you wish to transfer your ticket, please update your ticket holder information in your eventbrite account or let us know at least 3 days in advance of the event so we can prepare accordingly.

Do I have to purchase my ticket online or can I purchase at the door?

There will be an option to purchase at the door but we highly recommend to book online to avoid disappointment. We are expecting a full house at this lecture. Also, please be aware that we have to confirm numbers for refreshments upfront with the venue.
