Event Information
About this Event
Who’s up?
Dr Matt Lodder is an art historian and expert in the history of tattoos and body modification, as well as Director of American Studies at the University of Essex. For those too lazy to Google, he’s got a mega interesting backstory, from the Uni of Bradford to published writings on feminism in porn, not to mention consent, culture and the law in 70s and 80s queer subcultures. His current research focusses on tattoos from 1880s to now.
Matt will be sharing with us some of this and more, as well as extolling his passion for inking of flesh. You in?

What is Openhouse and why should you come?
The point of Openhouse is to fill your brain with ideas and inspiration, via stories from off the beaten track. The stories and opinions we like best are the ones you don’t trip over daily on the Gram, have lying around on your coffee table, or see time and time again at creative talks (remember those?). After all, unlike your car keys, your best ideas and newest points of view are not likely to be found in places you’ve already checked.
It’s not just about the good times though. Each Openhouse event supports a charity or cause that’s close to the heart of our speaker. So while it’s free to attend we ask you to give a couple of quid to help give back to the community that made our brilliant guest the person that they are.
