Event description

Description

As part of the Patrick Matthew Memorial Weekend, the Carse of Gowrie Sustainability Group are delighted to host an early evening lecture with Dr Sutton. At this event, Dr Sutton will discuss his book “Nullius in Verba’, meaning take nobody’s word for it, where he reveals his discovered research to corroborate Mathew’s lack of accolade by the Royal Society. Matthew discovered the process of natural selection thirty years prior to Darwin’s publishing the ‘Origin of Species’ yet was given no credit by the scientific establishment. Matthew, also, was the first person to bring the Californian redwood seed to the UK, more specifically to the Carse of Gowrie, and again was not credited for this until recently.

Nullius in Verba draws back the curtain to expose the shameless role of the Royal Society in hiding facts and perpetuating science myths ..it cries out for further enquiry” . Howard L. Minnick, Botanist, Range Conservationist and 3rd Great Grandson of Patrick Matthew, who will present at this lecture, along with a number of other descendants.
