Mae dynion ifanc, gwrywdod, addysg a chyflogaeth yn ennill sylw cymdeithasol cynyddol.

Mae llyfr newydd amserol Dr Richard Gater, The 21st Century Ladz: Continuity and Changes among Marginalised Young Men from the South Wales Valleys yn trin a thrafod y themâu hyn drwy ymchwil fanwl yng Nghymoedd De Cymru, gan gynnig cipolwg newydd ar sut mae dynion ifanc yn llywio hunaniaeth a newid.

Dywedodd yr Athro Steven Roberts fod y llyfr yn “bwysig, diddorol ac yn ysgogi’r meddwl”. Mae'r llyfr yn taflu goleuni ar brofiadau byw dynion ifanc mewn byd sy'n newid.

Ymunwch â ni i ddathlu lansiad y llyfr, a fydd yn dechrau gyda mewnwelediad a chyd-destun gan Dr Alex Blower, sylfaenydd y mudiad Boys' Impact. Dilynir hyn gan i Dr Richard Gater a Dr Dan Evans, awdur A Nation of Shopkeepers: The Unstoppable Rise of the Petite Bourgeoisie, gymryd rhan mewn trafodaeth yn arddull cwrdd â’r awdur. Byddan nhw’n trafod adrannau o'r llyfr ac yn gwahodd y gynulleidfa i ymuno â'r sgwrs.

Mae'r digwyddiad yn rhad ac am ddim, ond mae lleoedd yn brin a dim ond trwy gofrestru ymlaen llaw y bydd modd cael mynediad. Os hoffech fynd, cofrestrwch erbyn 5pm dydd Mercher 8 Hydref 2025 a dewiswch y tocyn presenoldeb wyneb yn wyneb.

Bydd y digwyddiad hefyd yn cael ei ffrydio'n fyw i gyfranogwyr cofrestredig. Os hoffech ymuno â ni yn rhithwir, dewiswch y tocyn presenoldeb ar-lein a chofrestrwch erbyn 5pm dydd Llun 13 Hydref 2025. Os byddwch yn ymuno â ni ar-lein, mae’n bwysig nodi y byddwch yn gallu gwylio'r digwyddiad ond na fydd cyfle i ryngweithio ac na fyddwch yn gallu gofyn cwestiynau trwy'r swyddogaeth sgwrsio.

Mae croeso i chi anfon y gwahoddiad hwn ymlaen at unrhyw gydweithwyr a allai fod â diddordeb mewn bod yn bresennol. Os oes angen rhagor o wybodaeth arnoch, e-bostiwch wiserd.events@cardiff.ac.uk neu ffoniwch 029 2087 9338.

Young men, masculinities, education and employment are gaining increasing public attention.

Dr Richard Gater’s timely new book, The 21st Century Ladz: Continuity and Changes among Marginalised Young Men from the South Wales Valleys, explores these themes through in-depth research in the South Wales Valleys, offering fresh insight into how young men navigate identity and change.

Described by Professor Steven Roberts as “important, compelling and thought-provoking”, the book sheds light on the lived experiences of young men in a changing world.

Join us to celebrate the launch of the book, which will begin with insight and context from Dr Alex Blower, founder of the Boys' Impact movement. This will be followed by a meet-the-author-style discussion with Dr Richard Gater and Dr Dan Evans, author of 'A Nation of Shopkeepers: The Unstoppable Rise of the Petite Bourgeoisie'. Together, they will explore key sections of the book and invite the audience to join the conversation.

The event is free, but places are limited, and attendance will be by prior registration only. If you would like to attend, please sign up by 5pm Wednesday 8 October 2025 and select the in-person attendance ticket.

The event will also be live streamed to registered participants. If you would like to join us virtually, please select the online attendance ticket and sign up by 5pm Monday 13 October 2025.
