Description

The talk will be by Suzie Imber, Associate Professor from the University of Leicester, and winner of BBC’s recent show ‘Astronauts: Do You Have What It Takes?’.


Dr. Imber will talk about her academic background, her experience of climbing mountains in the Andes, and her experiences on the Astronauts programme.

The talk will last one hour plus time for questions. It will start at 7.30pm in Lecture Theatre A (LTA) on the 3rd floor of the Physics and Astronomy Building (Building 46) on the Highfield Campus at the University of Southampton.


From 7pm onwards there will be a variety of stands in the foyer of the building showcasing the Spaceflight society and Astronomy and space related hands on demonstrations.


This talk is organised in collaboration with the Women Physics Network (WPN) which aims to bring together female physicists, to promote the career development of women in physics and to champion gender equality.

The WPN and WiSET will have a joint stand in the foyer.


The talk should be at a suitable level for ages 12 years and upwards.


Free Parking is available in the Physics and Astronomy carpark at the back of B46 and on the rest of campus from 6pm onwards. There is also street parking on Chamberlain Road (SO17 1PQ) and nearby streets.

The lecture theatre is accessible via stairs or a lift.
