Event description

Description

Cornish writer and cultural historian, Dr Tamsin Spargo has written about history, nonconformity, religion and sexuality. Her novel ‘Wanted Man’ (Bloomsbury, 2005) is a surprisingly moving account of anti-hero and real-life train robber, Oliver Curtis Perry, as he became the United State's most wanted man in the late 1800s.

Specialising in retelling non-fiction stories, Dr Spargo is one of the founders of Perthi Kov, a Redruth-based community group that creates immersive, site-specific theatre walks and events. As a researcher and writer, Dr Spargo contributed in producing ‘Until the Day Break’, story walks that took place in July 2017 in two graveyards at St Euny Church, Redruth. In this event she will recount this process, share some of the pieces of the story walks play and talk about what we can learn from retelling stories from real life.

The lecture will take place at 9.00am in Lecture Theatre 1, followed by Q & A session in the Lighthouse (Tannachie Building) at 10.15am.
