OCTOBER'S THEME - SLOW EDITING - Everything is sooooo fast right now - take a picture Bam! Send a message Swish! So it feels like we should be working harder, faster, better - but this can damage our work. In this session we are going to focus on the art of SLOW READING and SLOW EDITING, understanding how every word earns its place and small cuts create breathing space and lend power to meaning. We'll be excercising those antennae that tell us when a line is working and when it isn't and learning how to make the small slow changes that reallly make our words land. It's important work because it's how we infuse the words with use with the emotional truth and intensity that makes them sing off the page.
Workshop designed and facilitated by award winning author, poet and playwright, Carmen Marcus, author of HOW SAINTS DIE, Vintage and winner of the FABER NEW PLAY AWARD 2023. Her writing takes us on magical real journeys through mythic landscapes.
See you there!
