Welcome to Draft, Craft, Repeat!

Join us for a virtual event where you can draft new ideas, craft your work in progress, and repeat until it's ready to submit!

Writers who come to DCR say:

"It's really made a difference"

"I'm no longer stuck"

"It's unlocked my story"

Whether you're a seasoned writer or just starting out, this monthly get together is perfect for anyone looking to unleash their stories. Get ready to experiment with all aspects of writing craft from character to structure, and share with a community of like-minded supportive writers.

AUGUST'S THEME - EXPERIMENTAL STRUCTURES! - So what happens if your story doesn't fit the 3 act structure? What else is out there? Are there rules? How do I plan? How do I get inspired? How to I mess with strucutre? If you're asking all these questions this session is for YOU!

Workshop designed and facilitated by award winning author, poet and playwright, Carmen Marcus, author of HOW SAINTS DIE, Vintage and winner of the FABER NEW PLAY AWARD 2023. Her writing takes us on magical real journeys through mythic landscapes.

Hey! I'm a writer of poetry, fiction and plays. I live in the North East of England. I write about paracosms - imagined worlds where trauma can be resolved, these can be magical real stories of wolves of the sea or a poem about meditating on a train. I come from a working class oral storytelling tradition. Dad was a Yorkshire fisherman. Mum was an Irish chef. So I blend the practical and the magical together. I'm a highly experienced teacher, community artist and mentor and I want to support people to tell their stories their way.
