This ia a hands-on workshop is for those involved in STEM enrichment in schools looking for new activities for their students. Participants will develop the technical expertise for making small drag car racers. The various options for powering the cars and the opportunities for informal learning will be discussed.
The workshop is for teachers, technicians and club leaders, the aim is to develop a local inter-school challenge and an event for students will be arranged at a later date. Refreshments will be provided and there will be an opportunity to network with like-minded teachers and STEM providers in the area.
This event is being run by Ian McKay, technology teachers at Hylands School in Chelmsford, and leader of a multi-award winning rocket club which has attracted attention from BBC radio and was featured in ITV's School of the day. Students from Ian’s club have won the Chelmsford Engineers KS3 shield two years in succession.
