Event description

Description

This event is now fully booked. You are welcome to come along and take a chance on the night - if there are any free seats at 7.25pm these will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer any alternative seating if the event does fill up - so why not have an alternative activity in the city lined up in case you don't get in?

With an epidemic amongst young people in depression and anxiety, and policy-makers now looking at ways of addressing public wellbeing, we ask if we are living in a new age of anxiety. Political economist Will Davies of Goldsmiths, University of London will discuss what he calls ‘the happiness industry’, while UEA’s Teresa Belton will talk about the reciprocal relationship between personal wellbeing and environmental sustainability. Joining the panel will be Tonia Mihill and Hannah Garrard from map, a Norwich-based mental health service for young people.

These free events, held in partnership with Writers’ Centre Norwich, are open to everyone, and no prior knowledge is needed. The speakers will talk briefly and then the audience are invited to ask questions and offer opinions as the discussion opens up.

This year's series will be relocating temporarily to the Millennium Library at The Forum, while Dragon Hall undergoes renovation to open as the National Centre for Writing in summer 2018.

All events start at 7.30pm and should last until 9.30pm, or when the energy dries up!
