Description

Licketyspit - opening doors to imaginary playworlds to unlocking the limitless possibilities of children.

The Licketyspit approach empowers and enables children by embedding a rich story-based repertoire of games, rhymes, songs and imaginary play activities into their daily life. This training offers those working with children a fantastic resource and renewed understanding of their unique creative capacity to support childrens development through play.

Our vision is to work with children, teachers and parents/carers to foster a rights based, story-rich, child-centred culture in schools, homes and communities that builds children’s confidence, social skills, emotional literacy and resilience, problem solving ability and literacy.

This training will:

- introduce you to the Licketyspit Playcard repertoire – a toolkit of games, rhymes songs and imaginary play activities, that make it easy to facilitate successful group play

- offer new ideas for supporting children to overcome barriers to full participation

- provide a framework for facilitating intergenerational play with families

- provide an opportunity for networking and experience sharing

Refreshments & Licketyspit Playcard Resources are included.

“I am normally very reserved during any kind of drama CPD, however I really enjoyed working with Licketyspit and have discovered that within this environment I felt totally at ease. I found myself enjoying every minute of them being here... Thank you Licketyspit – you have changed my outlook!” Child Development Officer, Glasgow.

This training can be developed on into Licketyspit Leaders Membership which:

provides continuing training/shared learning opportunities; online support and enables participants/school/organisations to share this learning across their workforce and deliver Porridge & Play :Lite” with children and families.

Licketyspit is an early years theatre company specialising in facilitating empowering drama-led play with children under 12, intergenerational play with families and developing skill and expertise in drama-led play and creative thinking among children’s professionals. Founded in 2004, Licketyspit’s approach has been developed through play and reflection with 3-12 year-olds in Scotland. Training is delivered by Licketyspit Artistic Director/CEO Virginia Radcliffe, a leading early years theatre practitioner/actor/director/children’s playwright.

"The work of Licketyspit (LicketyLeap) is of a depth and caliber, which has the kind of quality which is rarely found. It now needs to become part of practice in every group setting working with children 3-7 years. The more parents and practitioners understand and act on the work of Licketyspit, the more young children will be given educational experiences which will serve them well for the rest of their lives.”- Professor Tina Bruce CBE,,Roehampton Institute & Froebel Trust & Licketyspit Patron.
