Join Michael Longhurst and Phil McCormak from the Donmar Warehouse to discuss the current landscape of theatre and schools.
Michael is an award-winning stage director and became Artistic Director of the Donmar Warehouse in 2019. He launched his tenure with a revival of David Greig’s Europe and staged the UK premiere of Mike Lew’s Teenage Dick. Other theatre includes The Son (Kiln and West End), Caroline, or Change (Chichester Festival Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, West End and opening on Broadway in 2021), Amadeus (National Theatre), Belleville (Donmar Warehouse), Gloria (Hampstead Theatre), They Drink It In The Congo and Carmen Disruption (Almeida Theatre), ‘Tis Pity She’s A Whore and The Winter’s Tale (Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, Shakespeare’s Globe), Linda, The Art of Dying and Remembrance Day (Royal Court), Constellations (Royal Court, UK Tour, Broadway).
Phil is the Head of Participation at the Donmar Warehouse, leading on school and community programmes through the Donmar's DISCOVER programme. Recent Discover projects include ISOLATE ENSEMBLE - working with young Londoners in the early stages of lockdown, MONUMENTS - a film project with 16-18 year olds exploring the legacies of The Empire in London, and ASSEMBLY - the Donmar's inaugural Local production exploring the climate crisis in our home boroughs of Camden and Westminster.
Phil has directed work with communities and young people nationally and internationally and trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
