Description

HOW WILL IT WORK?

Led by Artistic Director, Andrew Whyment, this workshop will introduce actors to the methods Squint use to turn verbatim research material into characters and scenes. For Squint's latest project, THE PROMISE, Andrew travelled across America following the Trump campaign for two-months speaking to his voters. Squint are committed to discovering characters and stories from beyond the ‘Liberal Bubble’ and working with actors to create narrative theatre that encourages conversation across political divides.

Andrew will introduce inside-out and outside-in approaches to character-making that can be applied to any role and will give actors fresh tools for improvising and writing well-made dramatic duologues.

Squint is an award-winning London-based theatre company that asks big questions about the world through exhilarating and provocative new work. Their distinctive, ensemble-driven productions collide new writing, music, movement and multimedia to create visceral and highly visual experiences. They research journalistically, develop collaboratively and rehearse playfully.
