Drapers' Hall, the City of London

The Worshipful Company of Drapers is one of the historic Great Twelve Livery Companies in the City of London and was founded during the Middle Ages. The Drapers' Company is based at Drapers' Hall, Throgmorton Avenue, which boasts magnificent interiors; the Hall is instantly recognisable from modern films such as The King’s Speech and Goldeneye.

The original Drapers’ Hall had been Cromwell’s home but was destroyed by the Great Fire of 1666 and replaced by a building designed in 1667 by Edward Jarman. In 1772, the Hall was rebuilt once again due to considerable fire damage. In 1866-70, the Hall’s interior and frontage to Throgmorton Street were altered by Herbert Williams. The frontage to Throgmorton Street was rebuilt again in 1898-9 by Sir Thomas Graham Jackson with Charles Reilly Senior (1844–1928) to maximise the lettable frontage. This long façade is eclectic in style and is faced with polished granite, Portland stone and rubbed red brick.

Arrive at the Drapers’ Hall for tea/coffee at 10.30am. The tour will start at 11am, lasting just under two hours. The tour per person costs £25 members, £19 YIG members, or £29 non-members.
