Event description

Description

Join artist Cecile Simonis and Curator Jenny Nex to explore musical instruments from two different perspectives. First listen to a brief talk about the history and sounds of the instruments, then respond by making your own work and understand different drawing techniques in an artist-led drawing session.

This class will draw instruments with the brush pen and a grey marker and experimenting with some more expressive way of representing the instruments and a jazzier finish!

Please bring with you

A sketchbook (not too small-no smaller than A5), or a clipboard and a few loose sheets of paper

A brush pen (ideally black).

These ones are the best (Pentel pocket brush pens with cartridges), but they can be a bit pricey. The Tombow black dual brush pen is also good!

And a grey marker. The Promarkers or Brush Markers by Winsor and Newton are ideal. Take a Grey 2 and/or a Grey 4. You can decide on the grey you prefer (warm, cold, or ice), or even go for a more beige colour if you want.
