Drawing Projects UK is delighted to present this online Drawing Discussion on working drawings with Ben Johnson - alongside the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2020 exhibition on Saturday 16 January at 4pm.
This Drawing Discussion will focus on working drawings with selected artist, Ben Johnson, Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize Director, Anita Taylor, and other guests, followed by a Q&A with the audience. Ben Johnson has two drawings incuded in the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2020 exhibition within the working drawings category. Ben Johnson (b.1946 Llandudno, Wales, UK) studied MA Royal College of Art. Selected group exhibitions include: A Sharp Pencil, Falmouth Art Gallery, Cornwall (2020); The Architecture Drawing Prize, Sir John Soane’s Museum, London (2020); The Castlegate Drawing Prize Exhibition, Castlegate Gallery, Cumbria (2020); Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, Royal Academy, London (2019); Architecture of London, Guildhall Art Gallery, London, (2019); 50 Years of Realism, Bank of Brazil Cultural Centre, Sao Paulo, (2019); John Moores Painting Prize, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, (2018); Superstructures: The New Architecture, Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, Norwich; Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2018, London & UK tour (2018-19). Solo exhibitions include: Spirit of Place, Southampton City Art Gallery, Southampton (2015-2016); Time Past and Present, Alan Cristea Gallery, London (2014). Recent awards include: Threadneedle (2014); Honorary Fellow, RIBA; Honorary Fellow, Glyndwr University (2015); Academician, Royal Cambrian Academy (2017). He lives and works in London.
Professor Anita Taylor is an artist, curator and educator, and founding Director of the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize project [1994-] and Drawing Projects UK [2009-]. She is also Dean of Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design at the University of Dundee.
The Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2020 exhibition includes 71 drawings by 56 practitioners selected from 4,254 works submitted from across the UK and internationally. The independent Selection Panel comprised Sophia Yadong Hao, Principal Curator of Cooper Gallery at University of Dundee; Ian McKeever RA, artist; and Frances Morris, Director of Tate Modern. The working drawings were selected by Sir Ian Blatchford, Director of the Science Museum; Piers Gough RA, Architect; and Sophie McKinlay, Director of Programme, V&A Dundee.

The exhibition is planned to be presented at Trinity Buoy Wharf in London from 9-22 January 2021, subject to public health restrictions. Advance booking to visit the free exhibition is essential.
