About this event

  • 7 hours

This is a full day workshop dedicated to drawing the hands. This workshop is suitable for beginners and anyone else who wishes to brush up on drawing the hands.  We will be looking at the observed structure of the hands, and looking at practical challenges that often come up when drawing them, such as controlling scale and detail in our drawings.

What to Expect

Morning: In the morning we will warm up with some loosening up exercises, and look at the observed structure of the hands, working from our own hands for some close up studies and using mirrors to capture a wider range of angles.

Afternoon: For the afternoon, we will be drawing from a clothed life model, looking at how to draw hands in the context of the figure.

The workshop will have tutored portions and plenty of drawing time to practise with. Tutor Lancelot Richardson will be available throughout the workshop to offer assistance and feedback.

This workshop runs from 10am-5pm with a 1 hour break at 1pm-2pm and additional shorter tea breaks.

What you need to bring

All materials required for this workshop are included in the cost of this course, though you may wish to bring a folder to take your drawings home in. Padded & backed chairs, drawing boards and tables are provided for all students.
