Spend an afternoon drawing at The National Gallery with Natasha Lien.

As part of a Drawing in Museums series organised by Art Academy London, in this session you will focus on rhythm and composition by studying a variety of paintings at The National Gallery.

Students will learn fundamental observational skills such structural drawing, measuring, tone and basic perspective. As well as develop an understanding of how artworks are put together to create particular impressions upon the viewer.

What experience will you need?

Suitable for all skill levels, these sessions are designed to enable students to express a creative response to either museum artworks, or outdoor environment. The tutor will meet each student at their unique individual level.

What should I bring?

All students wil need to bring their own Drawing materials, we recommend you bring the following:

  • Sketchbook or surface to draw on
  • Set of lead pencils (2B, 4B, 6B)
  • Charcoal (Willow or compressed)
  • Pastel pencils
  • Putty rubber and eraser
  • Pencil sharpener
