Event description
A half-day drawing workshop with Charmaine Watkiss exploring 'Memory Stories'.

About this Event

A half-day Drawing Session led by Charmaine Watkiss at Drawing Projects UK as part of the Drawing Matters programme. Charmaine Watkiss is a current exhibitor in the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2019, currently on show at The Salisbury Museum.

Charmaine Watkiss' practice is centered around what she calls 'memory stories'. This session will explore the idea of collective experience and how we can use research in archives as a way of gathering material for drawings. During this half-day workshop you will explore ideas around memory and what they mean to each of us individually. Participants will be invited to use tracing and layering as devices to explore these ideas.

Please bring along a personal object to draw. Basic materials will be provided, but please bring any special materials you would like to draw with.

Miranda's Coffee Shop at Drawing Projects will be open from 8am to 4pm.
