We are pleased to present this very special workshop within our Drawing Sessions programme on Sunday 18 November from 2pm to 4pm.

This practical workshop on Josef Albers' Interaction of Colour will be led by Fritz Horstman, Artist Residency and Education Coordinator at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation in Bethany, Connecticut, USA.

Working directly from Albers’ teaching notes from the Bauhaus, Black Mountain College and Yale University, we will approach color with open eyes, working through exercises such as “make three colors become four” and “four color worlds.” Because of the abstract and subjective nature of color, this workshop is useful to all artists and non-artists alike, and no prior experience is required.

The Josef Albers' Interaction of Color workshop will take place in The Drawing Centre Studio at Drawing Projects UK. Advance booking is essential. Materials, tea and coffee will be provided.

Fritz Horstman received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kenyon College and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Maryland Institute College of Art. He has worked as an educator and currently serves as the Artist Residency and Education Coordinator at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation where he brings workshops and lectures about his own work and about the curricula developed by the Albers and others at the Bauhaus, Black Mountain College, and Yale to schools and museums far and wide. He has also participated in numerous exhibitions and artists residencies both nationally and internationally.
