Event description
In this workshop you will produce a piece of work that explores ‘drawing with stitch' in response to the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize.

About this Event

Drawing Projects UK is pleased to present this Drawing Session led by Jill Kennedy-McNeill of the Future textiles Studion at Trinity Buoy Wharf on Tuesday 28 January 2020 from 10am to 12noon. The session will start in The Chainstore at Trinity Buoy Wharf in London.

The Drawing Session will explore Drawing with Stitch in response to the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2019 exhibition , and you will produce a piece of work that explores various methods of ‘drawing with stitch’. After perusing the work on show in The Chainstore and deciding which piece(s) inspire you most, we will head back to the Future Textiles studio and you will be guided through a number of techniques including applique, free-motion embroidery and decorative digitized stitch. No previous experience is required and this is expected to be a mixed ability group.

Jill Kennedy-McNeill works in textiles, sculpture, installation, words and images, outcomes often mimic and abstract the body, exploring our corporeal and emotive relationships with the private, public and virtual realms, as well as considering how these often collide. Work is realised sometimes physically, sometimes symbolically, usually viscerally and -where possible- with humour. Much of her work is about occupying space, ownership, belonging and the social and political tensions that exist around these ideas.
