Description

A six session drawing course for both beginners and those who have more experience. The aim of the course is to investigate different drawing techniques and materials each week, allowing you to enrich your creative process and enabling you to develop the visual language that you use.

Through the different processes of mark making and by allowing the materials used to guide how your image develops you will gain the skills and knowledge needed to further your creative journey.

The classes will include varied drawing exercises, using pencil/graphite, graphite powder, charcoal, monotype (drawing through print), ink and collage. The final two sessions will be guided by individual’s preferences and you will work towards a larger more finished piece.

Most materials will be provided. Students will need to bring: 2B, 4B & 6B pencils. putty rubber and hard rubber.

Tania Rutland is a practicing artist with over 25 years experience. She has shown in a range of galleries as both a solo artist and as part of group shows. Her paintings, prints and drawings have been exhibited in the UK, Europe as well as the Far East. She has taught drawing and printmaking at both degree and art foundation level in several colleges. Tania graduated with an MA in Fine Art printmaking from the Royal College of Art in 1991, following which she completed a Fine Art Fellowship at Cheltenham Art College. She has had a studio at Phoenix Brighton for over 20 years.
