Drawing the City to the Studio 1-day workshop with Julie Jackson NEAC
Sat 29 October 2016, 10:30 – 16:00 BST
This workshop starts in Julie Jackson's studio located on Southwark Street, a stone's throw away from Borough Market and the River Thames. It is an opportunity to see Julie's working methods and begin here by discussing the objectives of the day.
You will make paintings or drawings out of the studio that impart the local cityscape. Borough and its environment are endlessly rich, fascinating and compelling for the artist. Whether it be a roof top view from Julie's studio, or capturing people in the market, to the breadth of the river cutting through the City's skyline. London's rhythm is there to record your personal experience, and in doing so help you to see more.
The day will end with a plenary session.
- a selection of colour and monochromatic media that you would prefer to use (eg - oils, watercolours, acrylics, ink, charcoal, pastel, a selection of hard & soft pencils)
- sketchbook or canvas / board
- a sketching stool and suitable portable easel would be a helpful addition although not obligatory
- packed lunch is optional as there are cafes nearby
