Drawing with Ink
Overview
In this session, we will be working with ink (black + colour), using all kinds of tools to draw/paint with! We'll move through the session with a variety of playful prompts that compel a response, focussing on expressive gestural approaches to drawing. Ink is a versatile medium! We will use it full strength but also explore dilutions for tonal effect.
This workshop, led by artist Jules Bradbury, is a great way to begin to experiment with ink for mark-making and understanding the tonal range that can be achieved. We'll try out all kinds of drawing tools: home-made brushes, sticks, dip pens, etc
Ink is an obvious medium to express what we are seeing in this month––November brings bare branches & stark forms; natural light is often subdued. We'll begin with a short walk to look at transformation in the landscape in preparation for winter. Then back to a warming fire to learn about this medium, its qualities and uses.
What to expect:
A relaxing afternoon, learning about ink and exploring a range of effects that can be achieved in using this medium. We'll also ook at the work of artists who've used ink
As we'll be a small group there's ample time to try things and ask questions.
