About this event

Dr Jamie Frost has taught maths for 7 years; he was previously a PhD student at Oxford University (winning a Teaching Excellence Prize), prior to which he coded trading algorithms for an investment bank. His teaching resources have been downloaded 4 million times with 5 million page views a month. He recently won a Gold Pearson Teaching Prize, and appeared on BBC2 in October on 'Britain's Classroom Heroes'. His passion is to to inspire and engage all maths learners across the ability spectrum and regardless of financial background, and both his resources and online platform continue to be completely free to all.

In this CPD, Dr Frost will provide a practical workshop for teachers to get to grips with the DrFrostMaths online learning platform, as well as highlighting some of the key resources on the site (including in-class videos of teaching ideas). This will include a tutorial on getting started, as well as a look at functionality for setting homeworks/formal assessments, managing schemes of work, analysing/exporting assessment data and organising and creating worksheets. There will also be an exploration of case scenarios with regards to how the platform can be used for intervention, mentoring programmes, whole-year examinations, competitions and usage within lessons. The day will finish with a game of 'Dr Frost Live!', involving all attendees!

All attendees are strongly encouraged to bring a laptop. It will also help to register with www.drfrostmaths.com if possible in advance of the day. The workshop is designed to be suitable for those with differing (including no) experience of the DFM platform. There will also be opportunity for feedback on the platform, noting that many of the features on DFM are the result of requests at such workshops.

Light refreshments (tea, coffee) will be provided but attendees are encouraged to have lunch before the event. Parking is limited, so please see https://www.cheadlehulmeschool.co.uk/why-chs/travelling-cheadle-hulme-school for travel instructions.
