Event description
Being able to assess the quality and standard of driving of staff or third parties using company vehicles helps reduce accidents!

About this Event

Please note: Whilst others may advertise a 'Train the Trainer' programme over 3-4 days this is to a degree a false statement. Attending such programmes does not qualify the individuals as 'Trainers' nor does it qualify the individuals as 'Driving Instructors'!

Trident Manor & Newcastle International Airport Training Academy are 100% transparent and say that our programme enables delegates to assess the standard and quality of drivers but we do not claim to train driving (instructors) trainers over a matter of days.

During the COVID-19 crisis many transportation companies are having to increase the number of drivers using their vehicles both on a permanent and temporary basis. This brings with it risks that the drivers may not have the necessary skills and experience in handling types, or sizes of vehicles used by an organisation; even if they have a licence saying they can.

This two day RoSPA approved programme has been specifically created for organisations who have large vehicle fleets or have third-party drivers using their vehicles. This includes, transportation companies, utility companies, chemical plants, airport services and humanitarian organisations. It is deliverable from the Darlington or Newcastle bases, or should it be required it can be delivered internationally.

The programme provides delegates with the skills and understanding of what is needed to drive safely (defensive driving), it assesses the driving standards of the delegates (potential assessors), before having them undertake practise assessments with third party drivers. Over 75% of the programme is spent driving and assessing.

Delegates are subject to continual evaluation and assessments. There are still knowledge checks and tests to confirm levels of understanding and the programme culminates with an evaluation of a driving assessment, involving independent assessors.

Following successful completion of the programme delegates will be able to assess the quality, and standard of individual drivers; confirming whether they are suitable to drive company vehicles. This benefits companies by proactively identifying poor drivers, or those with limited abilities before they have an opportunity of causing damage, loss and disruption to operations and individuals.

Due to the nature if the programme and restrictions that have been caused by COVID-19 the maximum ratio of delegate to instructor is 1-3. However, special rates are applicable should an organisation wish to have multiple staff trained as assessors.
