Description

Driving Decarbonisation using Digital Twins CPD seminar by Eric Roberts of IES Ltd & CIBSE West Midlands region #cibsewm

Synopsis

Addressing the rapidly changing world requires new solutions. A Digital Twin is a dynamic virtual representation of a physical object or system across its lifecycle, using real-time data to enable understanding, learning and reasoning.

Energy Efficiency is the most important de-carbonising strategy for the Built Environment. To improve the Built Environment we need appropriate information and decision support tools to help people make the right decisions. Accurate Digital Twin technology can help Communities reduce carbon emissions; energy, maintenance and capital costs whilst increasing operational efficiency.

New digital twin technology leverages the best of both building simulation and AI/machine learning, allowing users to gain insight and more accurately make informed decisions.
Replicating reality by simulating the physics of energy and heat flow throughout building(s), incorporating real-world operational data, helps fill in the data gaps, and allows management of live data e.g. sensor anomalies, keeping the digital twin as accurate as possible to enable deeper understanding of the buildings performance and energy savings.

This presentation will take participants through a number of example use cases covering improvement of operational performance, portfolio energy/BMS data management, illustrating what it is possible to achieve using innovative digital twin technologies.
