Event description

Description

Mental Health problems are on the increase. According to MIND, approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health problem each year. In England, 1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem in any given week (such as anxiety and depression) but only 1 in 8 adults are currently receiving treatment.

With the growing awareness around mental health however, organisations are wanting to do more to support their employees who suffer from the challenges surrounding mental health issues. Unlike other conditions mental health often goes unnoticed and is not openly disclosed due to the negative attitudes and stereotypes historically associated with mental illness. Raising awareness in the workplace about mental health enables employees to speak up and access help and support.

Following on from World Mental Health day on the 10th October, the government has launched a campaign to train 1 million people in Mental Health First Aid(MHFA) and it’s likely in future that it will become a legal requirement to have Mental Health First Aiders alongside physical First Aiders.

Pendragon plc in collaboration with the East Midlands HR Network, are hosting an event focusing on mental health. The event will cover the challenges surrounding the identification of symptoms, negative attitudes, stereotypes and stigma historically associated with mental illness, and what support can be offered to employees.

This session will cover:

  • The enormity of the problem
  • What exactly is mental health?
  • How language perpetuates stigma
  • How to introduce mental health initiatives to your organisation

The event is FREE and kindly hosted by Pendragon plc. but with limited places available - so book your place now! Please note attendance at this is event is limited to in-house HR professionals, in-house recruiters, L&D or OD professionals only.
