Overview

In this session we will give a thorough introduction to DROID and other related free open-source tools.

DROID is a free open-source software tool developed by The National Archives in the UK and used by archivists across the world to help characterise and assess their digital records and plan for their long-term accessibility.

In this session Steve Daly, who is responsible for Digital Preservation at The National Archives and the Product Owner for DROID, will give a thorough introduction to the application and other related free open-source tools.

Starting at an introductory level, the session will guide you from first click to more advanced features of the application.

This session will cover:

  • Basic and advanced usage
  • Little-known features, tips, and tricks
  • Other related tools provided by The National Archives

After a presentation, there will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.

Who should attend

This session should be of interest to people who have never used DROID, or are an experience user looking to expand your knowledge of the product.
