The Department of Education reports that 482,640 pupils now have an EHCP in England (an 11.4% increase on 2024) with an additional 1,284,284 pupils requiring SEN support without an EHCP (up 3.7% on 2027). Over 1.7 million pupils have special educational needs - an increase of 5.6% on 2024. In parallel with support and assessments, demand for SEND information and advice is rapidly growing.

Having worked with councils over the last 12 months to develop a new AI-driven approach giving people 24/7 multi-lingual access to trusted Adult Social Care information and advice, we are now bringing this experience to SEND information and advice - and this event is an opportunity to understand, discuss and engage with the new approach.

A recent round of user engagement gave us a clear understanding of what people want in this space:

- Trusted information and advice - in one place;

- A way in which to reduce the mental load and ensure confidence in the accuracy of advice;

- An easy way in which to understand the process and wider ‘SEND journey’, and be supported to the next step, rather than it feel like an “isolated battle”

In this session we shall introduce colleagues to a new approach to SEND information and advice and engagement. One where we can use the power of new technology and widely used channels, to support parents navigate SEND in their own time and language - safe in the knowledge the information is accurate, trusted and reflective of their situation.
