Drug Development is a complicated process - from initial conception to clinical trials, regulatory compliance, and acquisition or commercialization, the journey from the lab desk to the patient is long and difficult to navigate.

We are delighted to invite Dr Claire Thompson to give this interactive workshop which walks through the drug development process, examining some of the decisions and risks which must be taken along the way.

This workshop is open to Cambridge early career researchers looking to gain more insight in to the drug development process . The workshop is free to attend and will be run virtually.

Workshop numbers will be limited to 25 to allow for more 1:1 attention. Places are available on a first come first served basis until capacity is reached and we will run a waitlist in case of any cancellations. Those on the waitlist will be prioritised for subsequent workshops.

About the speaker: Dr Claire Thompson

Claire is an award-winning scientist and innovator with more than 15 years’ experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry spanning the large multi-nationals GlaxoSmithKline and Pfizer, virtual and Contract Research Organisations. She is Deputy Chief Scientist of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. She is also the Founder of Agility Health Tech, a consulting and communications firm which works with organisations across the healthcare space to advance their products and raise their profile. Having taken a range of therapeutic products through clinical Phases 1 to 3, she thrives on translating innovative technologies into healthcare products and shaping technical and organisational strategies. She holds Honorary Senior Lectureships in the College of Medical & Dental Sciences at the University of Birmingham and the School of Pharmacy at University College London, as well as her role as Expert in Residence at the University of Cambridge. She holds a PhD from School of Pharmacy, University of Nottingham, and a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of St. Andrews.
