Druids in the Deadhouse
Fri 28 October 2016, 19:00 – 23:00 BST
Deep in the bowels of Somerset House Druids in the Deadhouse is an approximation of what a Druid hipster event might have been like had things panned out differently. In this Iron Age open mic night hosted by Arch-Druid Bedwyr Williams expect stand up, pagan cocktails, heathen nibbles, non-lethal human sacrifice and all manner of entertainment complete with flowing druidic robes and fake beards. Imagine a trendy East London bar where 90’s nostalgia is replaced with circa 900 BC revival.
The Deadhouse is Somerset House’s secret chamber clad with genuine headstones dating from the 1600’s and authentic antique odour. Alongside mystic amusement the Deadhouse will also play host to a set of tableau vivants, installations and performers who will populate the space with rituals, sinister ceremonies and celtic charm.
The evening will commence on the River Terrace overlooking the Thames followed by a robing ritual and ceremonial march down to the Deadhouse. Budding performers will be able to sign up on the night for the open mic slots so if you fancy performing, heckling or just cutting loose druid-style then book your ticket below.
- All participants will be given a robe to wear for the evening
- Druid attire is essential.
- The Deadhouse can be cold, particularly at this time of year, and plays host to some dewy decor. Please dress appropriately for the space.
