About this event
Drum Birthing/Making is a sacred practice that takes you on your own rebirth journey.
Our drums call us to take on the next stage in life and grow and evolve.
The drum birthing day will take you on an amazing journey - meeting like minded souls and creating a drum that you will feel deeply connected to.
This ancient practice is held by Emma Hewitt and her team of assistants. All on hand to help and support throughout the day.
Emma has been creating drums for the last 6 years and holding these workshops for 4 years. Emma's 20+ years as a creative facilitator and more recently as a healer and sacred space holder allow her to provide a space that allows the creative process to flow and feel easeful and will also attend to your own healing journey.
These London workshops are held a few times a year.
Do join us if you're feeling called to create your own drum.
On a Drum Birthing Day everything will be explained fully as we go along and there is help and support on hand at all times should you need it. Think of me as your drum doula.
Here’s a little breakdown of the stages we’ll go through during the day:
· Open sacred space
· Connect to your intention for your drum
· Get information about different elements of the drum, and how different size drums and hoops and hides create different sounds.
· Intuitively choose a hoop - cleanse and honour the hoop.
· Connect with the spirits of the animals through the hides - cleanse and honour the animal and prepare the hide energetically.
· Cut the hide to form the drum head.
· cut the lacing for your drum.
· make holes in drum head
· weave the lacing through the holes bringing the pieces of the drum together.
· The final stage of the drum birthing is creating a handle adding a crystal if desired.
· We then make a drum beater.
· And journey to meet the spirit of your drum.
It’s a full and beautiful day.
