About the sessions

The drum united methodology suits all ages and abilities. You don't need to be a drummer to join-in! As a group, we will tap rhythms set to mantras, for example: "Believe in the world, believe in yourself".

Our library events are 'open-access' - you don't need to pay, but we are grateful if you can make a contribution of £3 - £5

Join-in and practice:

We have plenty of resources including weekly webcasts/ live-streams for you to practice in your own time. See our meditation video at drumunited.academy/resources

The benefits of drumming:

You've probably heard that drumming improves mental health and better wellbeing? It reduces tension, anxiety and stress, calms the mind and releases endorphins.

Did you know that it also strengthens neurological pathways? Plus, drumming at our social events helps strengthen the feeling of unity, connectedness and togetherness!

Free resources:

Sign-up to our free membership to access our resources to learn the rhythms and mantras and practice.

T-shirts:

Visit our online shop for our t-shirts produced using 100% renewable energy, made with 100% organic cotton and printed with our rhythms and mantras!

Registration:

  • Registered participants will be invited to join 10 minutes early.
  • All participants with or without registration will then be welcome.

This project is supported by Arts Council England and is currently scheduled at libraries in Birmingham, Manchester and Milton Keynes.

Sessions and equipment:

Sessions are between 30 to 40 minutes. Sessions involve body-percussion and drumming with drum-sticks on a pad, a box or on your body.  All equipment is provided.

Accompaniment:

We ask that all young people and children are to be accompanied by an adult care-giver at all times.

Latecomers:

To keep the session flowing, latecomers are asked to join on the periphery.
