Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

"Performance poetry at its most accessible; a bit like being in the pub with a more interesting raconteur then you can usually rustle up" - Broadway Baby

Drunk With A Pen and Long Way Home Music present Drunk With My Friends: a gentle evening of poetry and music at the Latest Music Bar, in the heart of Brighton (or perhaps the heel of Kemptown). This is a comfortable, relaxed venue with unallocated seating - make yourselves at home!

Music comes from outstanding Sussex-based artists, including Hollie Rogers, Chuck SJ Hay, yourgardenday, and more. Here's four reasons you should come!

Joseph J Clark, aka Drunk With A Pen, will compere the evening with a selection from his 13.5 poems about drink and drinking. Sincere, accessible, often personal and occasionally amusing poetry from a life lived with the bottle. Expect a new pieces plus old favourites as Joseph returns to the Brighton stage.

Joseph J Clark is the writer of indie videogames Epistory - Typing Chronicles, Mighty Tactical Shooter, and Bleat the Wolf!

Doors open at 7 (ish), entertainment will run from 8pm sharp to about 10.30.

A charity ticket is available: £2 of which will be donated to the Clock Tower Sanctuary.

A half-price concession ticket will be available on the door.

Online ticket prices include booking fees.

RSVP on Facebook!

"A magnificent and powerful voice"

- Suzanne Vega (!) on Hollie Rogers

"Brutally honest well thought out lyrics and fingers that shoot around the fretboard with incredible ease.

- Overhead Wires on Chuck SJ Hay

A personal note on ticket prices:

Drunk With A Pen is a non-profit project, and proceeds from any earnings usually go to charity. But the musicians performing on the night have to earn a living from these performances. I am not comfortable asking them to play for free (or a tip jar, which is always risky), nor do I want to pressure them into splitting their earnings with a charity. A £6 ticket allows me to pay the artists a reasonable rate for the evening: help me support the artists who support me!

Clock Tower Sanctuary

Drunk With A Pen is proud to support the Clock Tower Sanctuary, a charity supporting young homeless people in Brighton & Hove.

Long Way Home Music

Drunk With My Friends is organised in association with Long Way Home Music.
