Drypoint & Monotype Workshop with Fiona Fouhy
Overview
In this workshop we will combine monoprinting with techniques such as drypoint and chine colle. With drypoint, a plate surface is directly scratched with a sharp tool to produce an incised line and can then be printed using the same technique as etching. We will explore the possibilities of combining drypoint and monoprint, since both techniques offer similar ways of working intuitively, directly and with speed. Chine colle is way to add colour by including paper with a different hue or texture. Whether you are a complete beginner to printmaking, a Lino cutter or even an Etcher, this course will bring a new dynamic to your skill set. By the end of the day you will have created a varied collection of unique prints. This class is open to people who have not done a workshop with Fiona before.
The class is limited to 6 students, therefore a great deal of individual attention is given. The class takes place in a bright and welcoming studio in Stoke Newington, just south of Clissold Park on a residential street (access up two flights of stairs). We will break for an hour for lunch from 1:00-2:00pm. Tea and biscuits provided!
