Event description

Description

Advanced Statistics

This elective is informed directly by research produced by Professors Greg Atkinson and Alan Batterham. The precise content will be determined by the requirements of the attendees, but topics may include the design and analysis of measurement studies (reliability, validity, method comparison), the proper quantification of individual differences in response to health interventions, appropriate methods for normalisation of physiological variables (scaling), sample size planning, and making inferences based on the size of effects versus null hypothesis significance testing.
Attendees will have the opportunity for hands-on interactive data analysis as part of the session.

Target Audience:

This elective is open to DTA Bioscience students in the second year of their PhD's who have started to collect data. First year students and DTA supervisors are welcome to attend if interested.

Booking deadline: Wednesday 24 April 2019

FAQs

What can I bring into the event?

The facilitators (Professors Greg Atkinson and Alan Batterham) are planning a mop-up session to finish the day, so if you have any specific issues/questions/problems please let Kal (kal@unialliance.ac.uk) know in advance of the day. It will be useful to bring along some of your own data (in SPSS format) if you have it so the facilitators can help with any queries.
