Rebalancing the Immune-Hormonal-Metabolic Axis in Menopause: A Case Study in Precision Health

Perimenopause presents a critical window for women’s health, particularly when hormone changes intersect with immune dysregulation and metabolic shifts.

This case study explores a 51-year-old female patient who presented with a recent diagnosis of an autoimmune condition, fatigue, chronic pain, weight concerns, and a desire to age well and maintain hormone balance. Despite being fit, health-conscious, and active, she experienced symptoms trending toward chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia.

A precision health approach was used, integrating DNA testing, gut and toxin assessments, and symptom mapping to personalise care. The protocol focused on modulating immune activity, supporting hormone balance, and optimising metabolic function. The patient achieved significant symptom reduction and avoided immunosuppressive medication previously recommended. This case highlights how early intervention and personalisation can shift the trajectory of chronic disease, improve quality of life, and support healthy ageing.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand how the immune, hormonal, and metabolic systems interact during perimenopause and menopause and influence chronic disease risk.
  • Learn how DNA testing and functional assessments can guide targeted, personalised interventions.
  • Explore integrative strategies to reduce symptoms and support long-term resilience in autoimmune and hormone-related conditions.

All attendees will receive:

  • 2-hours of CPD approved education
  • Lecture notes
  • Supplementary research papers
  • Dinner and drinks
  • Free sample products

Expert speaker:

Dr. Denise Furness, PhD

Denise is a world leader in the clinical application of nutrigenomics and epigenetics with over 20 years of experience. She is a molecular geneticist and has won numerous awards for her scientific research and global presentations. She began her career as a research scientist focusing on folate nutrigenomics, methylation and DNA damage.

In 2012 she founded Your Genes and Nutrition and began applying her knowledge in clinical practice. Denise has a special interest in fertility, thyroid health, after recovering from autoimmune thyroid disease herself, and ageing well. Denise has shown it is possible to slow the ageing process by altering DNA methylation (epigenetics) and reduce biological age using nutritional and lifestyle interventions.
